Chipper's Story...
Meet Chipper! Chipper is new here, so our caretakers are still learning about his personality. He is around 8-years-old, currently weighs 6lbs and was transferred from another shelter. Originally, Chipper was surrendered with his brother Kipper by their owner. While they love each other and get along great, we are not requiring them to be adopted together. Chipper is more easy-going and wants to snuggle up and relax most of the time. Kipper on the other hand is bouncy, excitable and wants to go-go-go! They both are ok with kids, get along with other dogs (Chipper can get a little overwhelmed), however we are not yet sure about cats. They each have their own personalities and would likely do great in home with other dogs to keep them company or to play with. Won't you come see these guys?

Chipper & Kipper DO NOT need to be adopted together! They are available and able to have applications submitted once you've met. For more information, please give us a call at (302) 571-0111 or visit us at our center (701 A Street Wilmington, DE) Tuesday-Friday 12-7pm or Saturday & Sunday 12-5pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chipper, a Wilmington Mixed Breed (Small)/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mixed Breed (Small)/Chihuahua for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Mixed Breed (Small)/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mixed Breed (Small)/Chihuahua breeders who help with Mixed Breed (Small)/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
