Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue is looking for a furever family for this amazing Dane in the IN, WI, IL, MO states.
Little Miss Bonnie is super sweet, very smart and very energetic! She is still all puppy after all so she’s supposed to be! Bonnie loves to play with her foster brothers (she has 3) and will play just as nice with her big fur brothers (85+ lbs.) or her little fur brother (15lbs). She has no problem sharing her toys with them, and has not shown any signs of food aggression to either her fur siblings or her foster parents. Bonnie would love to have a fur sibling to play and cuddle with at her furever home!
Currently her foster family is gone during the day, and Bonnie does just fine in her crate for 6- 8 hours, but she does need a couple of hours of play and walk time after sleeping and being cooped up all day! After some good play, walk, and training time she is ready to settle down and cuddle! And boy is she a great cuddler! But just like any Dane, she might forget sometimes that she is not a 15lb lap dog!
Bonnie is very smart, and learns quick! She knows sit, down (as in lie down-needs some help sometimes with this one), off (as in off the couch), no mouth, crate (with a treat), out or go on (like into a different area…not outside), outside - go potty/pee. We are working on stay, wait and easy. She is very food motivated! Bonnie will need to complete a professional training class with her furever family as soon as possible to reinforce all that she is learning, and continue her socialization with other people and dogs.
Bonnie’s foster family has a doggie door, and Bonnie has done extremely well with her potty training! If her furever home doesn’t have a doggy door for her, she may need a little refresher course on how to tell you she needs to go outside.
Bonnie loves car rides and just sits in the backseat like a little lady. She loves going to the vet and the store and meeting new people too! With just a little reminder, she does well at sitting and minding her manners when she is meeting new people out in the real world.
Bonnie’s perfect furever home will be a house with loving, active, experienced dog people she can cuddle and play with that are familiar with the needs of a baby great Dane. A fur sibling she can cuddle and play with would be fantastic, and of course a basket full of toys. She is not much for the hard, chewy toys, but likes the soft and squeaky toys the best. Bonnie is working hard on remembering to only put her toys in her mouth! She doesn’t bite, but just like toddler humans, she likes to put everything in her mouth! She has made huge progress with this since being in her foster home, and has a very healthy respect for her foster mom’s squirt bottle.
Bonnie likes to bark at noises that she doesn’t recognize, and her previous owner lived in an apartment and had to buy her a bark collar. She has not needed it since she has been at her foster home, so we think she would be happiest in a house where she can voice her concerns…within reason of course! She seems to have very nice manners outside though, and is not prone to barking for no reason.
