From the Foster:
Bae Bae is a very special girl-- the kind of dog that everyone falls in love with the moment they meet her and the kind that makes you forget her annoying moments and forgive her mistakes so, so quickly. She’s about half LazyBae and half PlayBae, and she never met a dog who wasn’t her friend! I am so lucky to have spent these past two months with her, and I have been hesitant to update her profile because I know everyone else will fall in love with her, too… but I have to do what’s best for this wonderful girl.
I have not crate trained BaeBae, but she does very well when I leave her out during the day, as long as I put away any reachable shoes, clothes, or food. Bae Bae is 90% house trained, although she won’t ask to go, so you have to stay on top of her schedule, or you’ll get a surprise peepee in the house. She never has accidents when I am at work during the day (unless I stay longer than 8 hours), but only when I am home but in another room and/or not paying attention to her schedule like I should.
The thing with Bae is that she will adore you so completely that she will always want to make you happy. She is very intuitive to her person’s feelings, and though she doesn’t always learn new commands, rules, and habits quickly, she will always try to do what she thinks you are asking. She is great at “Sit,” decent at “Come,” unless something exciting is going on, and is really good at “Wait” in some contexts, but not if I’m out of sight. She also knows "no" and "off" and is learning "leave it" and "drop it."
Her favorite things are
Hanging out with her person, and following you wherever you go. You should see the happy dance I get whenever I walk in the door! Her whole little body wags--even her head! She tries so hard to sit or slow down or anything and just can’t stop wagging.
Scratchies on her head and neck--she’s starting to learn the word “scratchies,” too...pretty adorable!
PLAYING. Bae Bae really, REALLY loves to play--with me or with her best friend, one of our resident male doggies-- and can get a little naughty with chewing, accidents, and annoying pawing at you if you don’t take care of that need. I cannot emphasize enough how much this pup thrives on her play time
Other dogs ! Oh boy does Bae love other doggies! She just plays and snuggles all day with one of our resident male dogs for hours at a time. I do think she would be happiest in a house with another dog that likes to play, but if she had a human who was around more often than not and who exercised her a lot, through walks and LOTS of play time, then she would probably be okay with doggy play dates/doggy daycare instead of living with another dog. No kitties for Bae, though!! She has a high prey drive and is ONLY good with people and dogs. Any small animals will be an issue.
Walks and outside time- She was so scared of the leash when she first arrived, but now she is a great little walker and can go for nice long adventures with me. She would LOVE a home where she can go for a few short walks a day and/or a few long walks a week.
Sleeping ! She sleeps in my bed with me in a tiny ball at the end of the bed, and she loves making nests in the blankies. No matter how late I sleep in (which isn’t usually late… but sometimes!), she never wakes up before me. She has the cutest little grunts and snores, too.
Zoomies! Arguably the best part of living with a pitty. When she gets excited, nothing can stop the 5 minutes of zoomies (usually followed by 5 min of drinking water and a nice nap). She flies on and off all the furniture, up and over tables, flops over obstacles and bounces back up again, and just smiles her little face off. A fenced yard is ideal for her zoomies, but if you’re okay with her zooming around the house, she’ll be fine!
