My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Taylor – UMDR ID#017-0407
Fostered by Marilyn M. and Sheila A.

Taylor’s Rescue was Sponsored by Linda and Joel

Taylor is a lovely young girl but still a baby really and will need a family that is interested and happy to take on a puppy and give her all the love, training and socialization to help her become a confident family member. She is approximately 10 months to a year old and currently weighs approximately 20 lbs.

Here is what Taylor’s foster family had to say:

Taylor is a beautiful little pup in need of much love and guidance. She is definitely in her puppy years and needs training but will certainly make a fabulous family companion. She appears to be a very healthy little girl other than the fact she needs to put on a few pounds and believe me, with an appetite like hers it will take only a short time and she will be looking like a champ. She is a very beautifully marked girl and is still full of puppy energy.

Taylor is a very friendly girl when meeting new people. She may be a little shy at first but warms up quickly. She has not shown any signs of aggression at all. She is being fostered in a home with another dog and two cats. She loves to play with them. She does not chase the cats but will follow them around sniffing them.

When Taylor is left alone in the house she is always crated but she doesn’t seem to mind the crate once she gets in it. She does show signs of being afraid when around loud cars or buses but that will improve with more desensitizing her to city life. We live very close to a fire hall and the sirens don’t seem to bother her at all. Her favourite thing to do is play with her toys, play fetch, or a game of tug-a-war. Oh, did I mention play fetch?? Taylor is a very quiet dog. Hardly will she make a noise other than thrashing her toys against the floor when playing.

Taylor will definitely need to be watched when there is food on the table, the counter and even waiting at the BBQ grill. She has never taken anything but only because she is very closely watched. If given the opportunity she definitely would help herself. She doesn’t know any of her basic commands but with proper training I’m confident she will learn quickly.

She is just getting to where she will respond when she hears her name. Taylor is well on her way to being house trained. She is taken out on a regular basis and is learning quickly. She is fully crate trained. It may take a little bribe to get her to go in but once she is there she is super good. She does not whine or cry. She will sleep right through the night without a sound. She has also now gotten to where she will venture into her crate throughout the day at times for a little nap.

Taylor is not bad on a leash. She wears a harness when being walked. She does pull a little but she is very good. Taylor would have to be watched closely around open doors and gates. She is never left in the yard on her own at this point. She would definitely love the freedoms of a very secured fenced in yard to run free in. When Taylor is in the car she is clipped into a booster seat type chair. She does not cry or show any kind of fear.

This little girl is going to make one lovely pet for one very lucky family. She is yet in her puppy years and a very high energy dog and will definitely need to be involved with a very active family environment. She will need to be with a family who has the time to take her to puppy classes to teach her the rules. I can definitely see this young gun in agility training. Taylor will be happy in a home with another dog to keep her company and would be fine with cats. I could also see her in a home with children to keep her entertained.

If you have the time for a puppy and are interested in giving this sweet girl a forever home, please go to Ugly Mutts main website at uglymuttsdogrescue.com and submit an adoption application for consideration.
