Luke is a sweet, playful boy who needs a new humane who can give him the time and attention that he so greatly deserves! When his owners adopted him, they were not aware he was blind. Take a look at his photos and the answer will probably be YES!!! Such a cutie pie!

Name: Luke
Age: Born October, 2015
Breed: Lab mix
Sex: Male, neutered (confirmed
)
Location: Spindale, NC

Vet Info: Luke is confirmed
neutered. He received the bordetella vaccine on 1/16/17 and his DA2PPV vaccine on 2/8/17. We do not yet have confirmation that he has had a rabies vaccine. Luke tested heartworm negative in June, 2016
. His
owner states that the vet said Luke is completely blind. He is around 65 pounds and healthy.

Owner Info: Luke's owners have had him for a year. They found out after they adopted him that he was blind. They feared the shelter would put him down if they brought him back so they have kept him but feel that another home and family would be better for him and his special needs since they don't have the extra time to put into it. "W
e aren't equipped to train him and he doesn't get the time he needs. He needs dedicated time and attention from someone who knows what he needs." His owner also said, "Luke is a very sweet dog. He has a lot of energy and just wants to be right beside somebody. I feel like he would do well with a companion dog."

Luke is an indoor dog who is crated. He is house broken and leash trained. He is good with women, teenagers and younger kids. His owner doesn't have any other animals so is unsure how he is around them. He isn't around a lot of men but does fine when he is.

Luke is not possessive over treats, food or toys. He is not agressive towards people either. His owner does share this, "he gets nervous when someone comes up quickly without warning and barks."

Her owner also feels that Luke adapts well in new environments,"as long as he is aware that he is with someone. He likes to make sure someone's hand is on him."

"He is a very sweet dog and just wants to be petted. When he is around me, he stays right at my feet and keeps his head on me. He is a good dog. He doesn't get the attention he needs."

About Blind Dog Rescue Alliance - WI

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small group of volunteers spread throughout the United States (and even a couple in Canada) who are dedicated to advocating for blind and visually impaired dogs by rescuing dogs in shelters, helping blind dog owners, and educating the public. We formed in 2009, though our members have many years of experience in rescue, and in blind dogs.

Our Adoption Process...

Interested in adopting a BDRA Dog? Simply fill out our application. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered,
up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick preventive.

We ask a $300 adoption fee. This does not begin to cover the vetwork we do on our dogs, which is why
we are always fundraising!

Keep in mind that Blind Dog Rescue Alliance will transport dogs to their potential adopters. So do not let distance discourage you.

The Board of Directors has voted to prohibit the use of Invisible/Electronic fences on Blind Dog Rescue Alliance dogs. This policy will be effective immediately.

Please email info@blinddogrescue.com with any questions.
