My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a courtesy listing only for LAYLA. This Doxie is NOT at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. For information, please contact his current caretaker, KATE at 503-928-1334 or katefassett@hotmail.com..

DOGGIE BIO:

Sweet Layla is a 10 year old, 15 lb, smooth red female Dachshund in need of a new loving home to live our the rest of her forevers. This sweet girl has lived with a loving family for her entire life up to now, but they are being transferred out of the country for work and cannot bring her with them. They have asked Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc to help Layla find a new family to love and be loved by.

Here is what her current caregiver has to say about Layla:
Layla loves to go on walks, to play with other dogs, to be with children, and to snuggle. She loves it when we get down on the ground and wrestle with her (she burrows under our necks and in our hair, rolling on her back and wants us to rub her belly). She is happy when her family is around, and she has a warm place to rest. She is loving and patient with our two girls (ages 6 and 8). She doesn't like to be picked up by strangers, but she will let her family pick her up. After we give her a bath, she runs around the house at full speed to dry off. We all giggle as she runs up and down the stairs, and rolls all over the carpet to dry off! Our girls love to dress her up for holidays (reindeer antlers for Christmas, a super-dog cape, and little baby clothes). Though she doesn't love this, she puts up with it without too much of a fuss. She loves water (streams, tidepools, etc.).

Unfortunately, ODR, Inc. is over-full and cannot take this little Doxie in. If you or anyone you know can help, please share this email or contact their current caretaker,KATE at 503-928-1334 or katefassett@hotmail.com.

Please note, this is a Courtesy Listing for a doxie that is NOT at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. We are helping the owner find his/her new forever family. Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. has posted this dog as available for adoption or rescue intake as a courtesy accommodation to the dog's owner. Any and all information, photos, etc. have been provided by the dog's owner. Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. is not responsible for the accuracy of any of the information contained in this listing or any information that may have been omitted. Thank you!

ODR, INC. ADOPTION CRITERIA (aka Our Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria for dogs that we adopt and that we recommend to owners whose doxies we list courtesy posts for, the sole aim of which is to facilitate a successful adoption with a forever family.

*Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time?
*Have a securely fenced yard?
*We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and *Children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie).
*We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). *Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog.

Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these or similar issues.

Thank you!
