Zoey is a Black Lab/Heeler/Shepherd mix who is approximately 1.5 years-old.  She is very intelligent and knows several basic commands and tricks which she will do if there is a treat.  Zoey was mistreated and abused as a  puppy which has resulted in her being overly anxious.  After that bad beginning, she has had a loving, patient owner who has done her best to help Zoey, but the anxiety is ongoing.  When she is left alone in the home, she becomes destructive if not kenneled.  She doesn’t like being kenneled but does better when there is a fan going and music played to soothe her.  She is always on the alert for danger, and loud noises, such as thunder or fireworks, are especially frightening for Zoey.  When she is feeling anxious, she doesn’t like to be picked up or fussed over.  When in the house, she likes to be near her person, but often observes from a safe location nearby.  She prefers to be an only-dog and entertains herself by chewing on her toys or bones.  She is a good watchdog and loudly reacts to anything happening outside her home.  Zoey loves going for walks unless there are loud noises on her route.  At night, she enjoys the safety of sleeping with her person.  She needs a new home because her owner is moving and can’t take Zoey along.

The suggested adoption donation for Zoey is $350, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our dogs in rescue.  If you would like to welcome Zoey into your home, please begin by submitting our Adoption Application.  The adoptions for all of our dogs will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver the dogs.  If you would like to learn more about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, or donate to our dogs, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com.  We invite you to visit our Facebook Page, and when you visit, please don't forget to Like our Facebook page so that you won’t miss any information about our dogs and events!

About Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, Inc. is a not for profit organization formed in 2014 by a small group of devoted animal lovers, in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area, with many years of rescue experience wanting to make a difference in the lives of dogs. Our rescue focuses on small breed dogs, less than 35 pounds, of any age. It is all volunteer based, and all of our rescue dogs are living in the homes of our volunteers.
Our rescue is unique in that we offer supportive services, such as education and training, to owners considering relinquishing their pet in an effort to try to keep the dog in their home whenever possible. We also educate and offer placement assistance to owners attempting to rehome their pets through social media sites, which can often be risky for the pets as well as the owners.
