Zahara is an 8 year old Canaan Dog, one of the most ancient breeds of dogs from the Middle East.
She is a very gentle dog with an old soul who just arrived from Jordan where she was a victim of the chaos. She is super sweet, quiet, and a little couch potato. She only wants short walks and she's very content to stay home and enjoy a comfy bed. She is housetrained, spayed, and relatively healthy but has a little arthritis and needs some extra care with that. She would be perfect for someone who wants a very low key companion. She is good with cats and other dogs. If you would like to meet her please contact Luisella Audifredi via email at luisella98@aol.com.

About Happy Tails Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Happy Tails Dog Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, vetting, and rehoming dogs from kill shelters in Southern Florida. We are a husband and wife team, together with a small team of volunteers who rescue, vet dogs, and rehome dogs who are about to be euthanized. It is our goal to provide the necessary veterinary care, grooming, and attention they may need to ultimately place them in forever homes.

The inspiration for Happy Tails Dog Rescue came about after my husband and I rescued our dog, Sophie, who was 24 hours away from being euthanized at MDAS. She was considered "undesirable" due to the fact she was an older dog in desperate need of grooming, costly dental work, and lots of love and attention to heal from the trauma of being abandoned on the streets. Today she is the most loving and affectionate dog we have ever met; we call her our "angel dog". Sophie's story is a reminder to us that we "can't judge a book by it's cover".

We have self-funded most of our rescue efforts but have also received many generous donations. We have raised monies through fundraising events and have created a sponsorship program where individuals and/or businesses can choose to sponsor a dog. Banfield Pet Hospital in Delray Beach has been tremendously compassionate to our cause, donating medications and offering discounts on many veterinary services performed on our rescued dogs. Today all of our rescues are vetted by Dr. Tanis Whyte at Colonial Animal Hospital in Boynton Beach. We are very grateful to Colonial Animal Hospital and Dr. Whyte for their continued support.

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our rescued dogs are cared for by volunteer fosters who are part of our foster network. If you are interested in meeting any of our rescued dogs please contact us directly and we will schedule a meet-n-greet with the foster currently caring for the dog you are interested in potentially adopting.

For more information on us, please visit our website at www.happytailsdogrescue.org and "Like" us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/happytailsdogrescue to keep up with daily announcements via social media.

Our Adoption Process...

Our goal is to make the adoption process as thorough and easy as possible. If you are interested in adopting a dog, the first thing we will ask you to do is complete an Adoption Application. Upon review of your application, a decision to approve or decline will be made.

If approved, we will schedule a time for your to meet the dog you are interested in adopting. If there is a match, a home visit will be conducted before the final adoption decision is made. Once the final approval is made, an Adoption Agreement is signed and the adoption is complete.

We ask that adopters make a discretionary donation of their choosing (instead of paying a set adoption fee) for the dog they adopt. We believe adopting a dog is enough of a contribution to the cause and all donations made are applied towards the rescuing and vetting of future dogs.
