Charlie is a 9-year-old purebred Boston Terrier weighing at 19.5 lbs. He's currently underweight and needs to gain a couple of pounds.

Charlie came to us in bad shape as an owner surrender. He had a large perineal hernia, ear infection and tested positive for Lyme disease. Even with all of that going on, Charlie didn't let on and was as happy as a clam. After coming to us, this handsome boy got surgery to repair his hernia, his ear infection is gone and he's on antibiotics for his Lyme.

He loves to eat, fetch and get back scratches. This laid-back pup gets along with dogs and cats (he will chase, but not harm). His previous owner had kids and said that Charlie is good with them.

Don't let his age fool you, Charlie has a bunch of energy and loves to play. And when he's worn out, he's a snuggler. He's treat motivated and would do well training - Charlie knows a handful of tricks and is eager to learn more! He's incredibly sweet and submissive. Charlie's great on leash and gets excited for walks. While Charlie Cakes is crate-trained and will do fine in his crate, he prefers to snore in a warm bed, under the covers. This sweet dude will do well in any home - as long as he gets lots of food, love and back scratches.

He does require a special, canned dog food because of kidney problems and his new owner must be financially able to spend up to a couple dollars a day for this dog food.

Please use the foster momma or dad's contact information above for questions.

The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website

Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma.

We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them.

Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.

About Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee

About Our Rescue Group...

All breeds have their own particular needs and rescued pets often have special requirements as well, very often in want of medical care, often lacking nourishment and kindness, and often expensive to rehabilitate.

Because we have had Boston Terriers of our own for many years, we are familiar with their habits, peculiarities and their special needs.

We operate across the southeast under the auspices of the Boston Terrier Rescue Network. We share information and resources in all of the USA with affiliated Boston Rescues.

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption fees generally range from $400 for pups and up, to usually four years, $275 for adults, usually $200 when we have a mixed breed Boston.

The fee is generally based on the dog's age and provides for neutering or spaying when required, all required shots, heartworm testing (we endorse "slow kill", a monthly prevention program for heartworms, treatment for other parasites, any other vet visits or urgent medical attention required, and supplies to foster homes. It is our expectation & requirement that these same preventative routine medications be continued as well as any required vet visits after the pet is adopted.

If for some reason a match isn't made the first time around and you are approved, we will keep your application on file for the next opportunity to arise. Our primary goal is to place a dog in the most suitable environment, based on the animal's individual needs and its temperament. The commitment is lifelong and the Boston's interests are always foremost.
