Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rusty is a 3 y/o blue tick boy who was found stray and taken to a local shelter where it was discovered that he had been walking around on a broken leg for over a year! This little 13-inch boy has spent the last 3 months recovering from pneumonia and then treatment for heart worms. It was our hope that once he was healthy, we could have the leg surgically repaired, but it has been determined that is not an option.
Rusty gets around quite well on the leg and has no apparent pain. He will walk and even stand on it for a one legged watering of a tree. When he runs, he picks it up and only uses it for touch down balance. He is cautious around new pack members, but usually goes tearing out the back door with the rest of the pack after invading critters! As long as he keeps his weight to a nice 21-22 pounds, he should be able to enjoy life with one bum leg!
He gets along well with his foster siblings. He hasn’t been an active partner in many of the games but has been observing and is just now starting to feel comfortable about with a little wrestling on the bed!
Rusty’s house manners have always been good. He has never marked in the house and sleeps through the night on a dog bed near hiss foster Mom. He is often found taking a break in one of the kennels. Rusty is at that perfect age; he enjoys playing with toys but doesn’t think that your shoes belong to him!
Rusty has a sweet, loving nature. He loves to cuddle next to you when he gets his turn! Rusty has a coat so soft it is a pleasure to pet him! He will thrive with a family with time and love to shower on this wonderful little guy!
