Facts about Blackie Needs Permanent Foster

  • Breed: Cocker Spaniel/Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog Mix
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)

(4/10/17) Blackie is a 15 year old Cocker Spaniel/Sheltie blend that was a part of a court case. He has been living at the out of state shelter since 1/24/17, and his case is now over. This 31 lb senior is so sweet! Though he is older he still has so much love and life in him! Blackie loves to go on walks and get attention. Of course at his age Blackie has some issues that come along with the golden years. He has grade 2-3/4 dental disease and went through antibiotics for this. He also has a cataract in his right eye. Sadly, Blackie is also heartworm positive. He will be receiving the slowkill treatment, so we are looking for a permanent foster home for this sweet senior man, Blackie. IF YOU CAN HELP BLACKIE, PLEASE EMAIL AngelsAmongUsRS@live.com.

About Angels Among Us Animal Sanctuary

About Our Rescue Group...

Our rescue focuses on senior dog adoption and hospice care. We pull most of our rescue dogs from high kill shelters where seniors have no chance of adoption. We also take owner surrenders when the owner can no longer care for their senior dog. We have foster homes in several states for our adoptable seniors. We are especially proud of our "Seniors for Seniors" Program where we match our adoptable senior dogs with senior citizens. We have fundraising events so that we can donate the vetting for this program. We rescue dogs with special needs who are blind, deaf, arthritic, diabetic...as well as dogs with serious illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, etc. We have three foster homes that specialize in the care of our Resident Angels, our hospice cases. We are an all volunteer organization, and we are always looking for volunteers, foster homes, and help with fundraising.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an application, vet reference check, personal references and a home visit prior to approval. We accept adoption donations to go toward our vetting costs for each dog. Their is no adoption fee/donation for our "Seniors for Seniors" Program which matches our senior dogs with senior citizens.
