My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ania . . . a darling incredibly loving, snuggly, affectionate and friendly Bichon Frise mix with a beautiful curly non-shedding white coat and big brown eyes that give evidence of her happy trusting (and mischievous) nature. She weighs 12 pounds and, based on what we have learned from animal control, was probably born in July 2015. Ania was found in the home of a cat hoarder; she and her brothers, Little Boy and Big Boy, were living in the most appalling inhumane conditions imaginable. They arrived at the Safehouse on 02/25/2017. Ania was named after the Investigator who rescued her. Ania loves toys (she carries them everywhere), treats, and her brothers. Big Boy and Little Boy have been adopted so Ania will need to live in a home with another small young male companionable dog. She is shy, good-natured, gentle and well mannered; housetrained to a doggy door, she will need time and patience to adjust to your home and schedule. Ania has a very playful personality and enjoys the company of small young dogs and older children. As a very young pup, she and her brothers were the tortured victims of a botched “declaw” procedure. Declawing in humans would be equivalent to cutting off the tip of every finger at the first knuckle - - very painful, made worse in Ania’s case by the fact that her surgery was botched. Ania is missing the digits on her rear feet and the trauma left her with osteoarthritis. Due to her damaged rear feet, she will require ongoing management of her osteoarthritis and a home with a fenced in yard. However, her damaged feet don’t stop her or even slow her down and there is no reason why this darling dog cannot enjoy a normal life climbing stairs, chasing squirrels, jumping off furniture, splashing through puddles, digging holes and wrestling with other small dogs. A charming lap dog but no couch-potato . . . Ania is one tough girl who is looking for a Super Human who can keep up with her!! She is always ready for anything - hiking, camping, climbing, running, and doggy sports. She can only tolerate a crate for brief periods of time but accepts confinement to a small room just fine - - especially if the room has a big window for watching the world go by!. Young, waggy tailed, noisy and very playful, this adorable dog is eager to find a family with small male doggy playmate and a fenced-in yard (she LOVES the outdoors!). Ania is spayed, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative; she has had a complete physical and dental. Her adoption fee is $350.
