ELROY! (A35064869)

If you were looking to adopt a dog, would he be a) Out of his mind b) Out of control....or would he be c) Out of this world? Well, if you picked C (we hope you would pick C!) then Elroy is the perfect dog for you!

Meet Elroy, a goofy, floofy, 3-5 year fella who came to the shelter as a stray. Elroy's the happiest looking mixed breed dog you've ever seen- there's something about that Terrier/Lab combo that just makes him irresistible (we think it's the floppy ears!). Named after- you guessed it- Elroy Jetson, because just like Elroy, he's a good boy who's super smart...and sort of looks like a cartoon character!

But while Elroy may look like a silly cartoon, no grass is growing under his paws! Since he began attending the Little Dipper School For Good Dogs, Elroy has become quite the smarty pants- he's acing his clicker training classes, and has already mastered multiple cues such as "sit", "down", "touch"...and we're even working on "sit pretty"! The best part is that Elroy is very, very treat motivated, so continuing his training in a home should be easy.

I know what you're thinking now- "Elroy's smart, but I want a dog I can have fun with". Don't worry- we've gotcha covered! Elroy is definitely a work hard, play hard kind of guy- he loves toys, especially tennis balls, and is practically a certified fetch expert. He can also be, well, a little clumsy? In his exuberance, Eloy has been observed running into inanimate objects....and he always looks a little baffled afterwards, sort of like "Hey, that giant trash can just came out of nowhere!" Surprisingly, in spite of his occasional two left feet, Elroy is actually a great running partner, and is a regular companion of the shelter's "running volunteer", Ian!

Elroy's got it all- looks, brains, personality. He would love to find a family that will appreciate everything he brings to the table (the table he may sometimes run into!). If Elroy sounds like the perfect guy you've been looking for, please email his Pen Pal, Sheri, at Harlow314@aol.com for more information!

About Animal Care & Control Team of Philadephia

About Our Shelter...

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 32,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.

In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement. Other exciting ACCT Philly programs include a food pantry for low-income pet owners, a vibrant volunteer program, trap-neuter-return for community cats, a unique Pen Pal program to assist dogs at risk … and so much more!
