My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB Feb 9th, 2015

Sweet Marty has the personality of a Lion king, without the big roars. He is an outgoing and affectionate cat who enjoys a busy life with kids and other cats. Marty gained the bad reputation of being a biter; however in the care of a foster home, he was found to have severe mats pulling his skin. Brushing him or petting him too hard was very excruciating for him; no wonder he was grumpy and reacting. That's the reason why Marty was shaved and he wears this beautiful lion fur cut.

He's a purring, head butting cat who adores chin rubs, ear massages, even kisses on his head. He will happily come when you call him, and lie by your side on on your leg when you're watching TV. If you pet him without your full attention dedicated to him, he will gently push his hear or try to nib on your hand to ask you for more. However, because of his previous painful mats, he won't tolerate belly rubs and getting his paws touched and will try to bite (without tearing the skin, or holding to your hand) warn you he's not OK.

Marty would benefit from a once in a while professional fur and nail trim, as with his long coat, he will need regular brushing which he's not fond of. In his past kitten life, he learned to play with human hand and once in a while when he's stimulated, he may try to play again. His forever home must ensure this behaviour is discouraged by distracting him with toys. Once there is full trust between you and him, he has no issue being picked up in your arms and staying there. He's great with older kids who understand his low tolerance for belly rubs. He's created a strong bond with 8 year old twins in his foster home who love to get him playing. He's great with cats, he loves to run after them. He needs a busy environment where there will be action and at least another young at heart cat. A quiet life is not for him!

Marty is not shy to vocalize his needs, he loves to chat. He will greet you at the door and show how happy he is. He's also a treat addict! He's a very active cat, loves to play and run after his other cat friends.

Marty has a grade 1 benign heart murmur - no medication needed

His foster home can testify he is a sweet active cat who had bad upbringing and painful mats hurting him for months. In a few weeks, he's shown his true outgoing and loving personality. Our cats, kids and us will miss him dearly!
