Facts about Dean

  • Breed: Shar Pei Mix
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Dean was found as a stray in Martin, TN. The person who found him asked a passer by if they recognized the dog and they said he has been in that area for a while and might have a home in the area, but she did not know where. That person also contacted the rescue for help with the dog. Despite notifying the sheriff, asking at the nearby vet's office, and posting on Facebook, an owner has not yet stepped forward so Dean is now looking for a forever home. Dean is a tan Shar Pei mix who the vet estimates is 6 years old. He weighs around 60 pounds. Dean has been vetted, vaccinated, neutered and will be microchipped. He tested positive for heartworm but successfully completed heartworm treatment and is now heartworm negative. He needs to remain on monthly heartworm prevention. His foster says that Dean is wonderful with the children (age 10 and above) and gets along with other dogs. He is afraid of cats. He is very sweet toward the foster's small, special needs dog. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Dean if it means he will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer rescue to cover at least part of the cost of the veterinary care this dog has received.

About Our Rescue Group...

Diamonds in the Ruff Pound Pups is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit rescue group that rescues animals from kill shelters as well as stray, abandoned, injured, and neglected animals throughout Obion County in NW TN. Our Adoption Process...

Until the end of 2017, our adoption fee has been lowered to $95. This fee helps to cover part of the cost of basic veterinary care, age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm and fecal tests, spay or neuter and microchip. If a dog has required medical care above and beyond the norm, the adoption fee could be higher. Fees are sometimes lower for certain dogs, so please inquire. If we are unable to arrange for volunteer transport for adoptions outside our area, it may be necessary for us to arrange for paid transport at a cost of approximately $140. Completion of an adoption application as well as a veterinarian reference is required. Our online adoption application can be found at We also have a paper application which you can obtain by emailing Thanks for your interest in adopting a Diamonds Dog!
