My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTION PENDING!!! The King Charles/Papillon is deservedly known as a great breed mix! Of utmost importance...both breeds are famous for their great temperaments, intellect, love of fun and extremely snuggly ways. They're also known to be trustworthy and very gentle with family members and other family pets.

Birch is a great representative of both these loving and family-oriented breeds...he loves being with his people and if a walk is the order of the day - count him in! Birch would be overjoyed to take a hike through the Colorado mountains...and then crash on the couch snuggling close to his favorite humans and canines. Birch is an absolutely adorable and engaging guy who favors the intellect of the Spaniel while taking on the very engaging and fun-loving qualities of the Papillon.

Birch's Kansas rescuer had the following to say about this incredible guy:

Birch is the sweetest baby imaginable with an easy going personality and a medium level of energy. He does love to play and take walks (we're working on his leash skills and he's coming along great), but he also loves to cuddle and have his tummy scratched. Birch gets along really well with our three smaller dogs and did great when our twelve year old grandson was visiting. We crate him at night next to our bed, and he sleeps quietly through the night (although we've found a crate is unnecessary..Birch is house trained and respectful).

Birch would fit in nicely with any family since he's an incredibly sweet and loving guy! He would enjoy the attention and full-time company of retirees and they would love him as well. He's an amazing lap-dog and a wonderful and loyal best friend. I think that Birch would also be very happy playing with older, dog-crazy kids. He would appreciate their love of fun and then cuddling in bed with them through the night.

Birch's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...he makes playmates everywhere he goes. He is social and that means everyone he meets has the potential to become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Birch's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through his entire body ending in a smile (you can see the grin in his photo..he's a happy guy!). And if your lap is available, up Birch goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of his devotion.

Birch is such a wonderful being...we think he represents the best qualities of his breed mix. At just about 5 years old and 19 lbs (perfect age to be be beyond babyish behavior as well as great for a hiking/lap dog companion), Birch seems to be healing from his very scary experience in a shelter...each day he's blossoming just a little more. He's has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he shines with his accomplishments. We would like to see Birch in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he's engaging and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member.

Birch will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 5/4/17. If interested in this very sweet best friend who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
