Look at this sweet face!
Poor Maxo was terribly neglected...you can tell from his 'before' grooming picture. Maxo is only 8 years old but has suffered such neglect that he is in the condition of a much older dog, but he needs love too! He is blind in the milky eye but no glaucoma. He has ok sight in the other eye but not full sight. He can see well enough to get around easily. He also has some hearing loss. He does hear but has trouble sometimes determining where the sound is coming from. His teeth are bad and he needs a dental and has a grade 4 heart murmur and his heart is enlarged.
To add insult to injury, Maxo is heartworm positive. He also has some cysts which need to be removed, but because of the condition of his heart, the vet is afraid to anesthetize him for his dental and for the cyst removals. We will be putting him on monthly heart worm preventive to initiate a slow-kill method which should take several months. If he can be cleared of heart worms, perhaps he can then be anesthetized to finish his vetting.
He can't have his inoculations until the heart worms are gone, so he's going to be with SCMR for a while until he can be adopted or unless someone wants him just as he is and is willing to work with his health issues.
He's so sweet! If anyone wants to be a Sponsor Angel, Maxo sure could use your help! For now he is in Chattanooga getting lots of TLC!
