My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Tibetan Spaniel is small but active and alert. They are known for their intelligence, easy-care coat and their desire to watch over their family from high perches in the house. Princess is no exception to the breed. She is definitely her own little person, somewhat of a Diva, a clean and lively little companion. Princess is a middle aged girl approximately 8 – 9 years old and currently weighs 11 lbs. She has had all her vetting done including a full dental.

Here is what Princess’ foster family had to say:

Princess is very sweet and everyone who meets her loves her. She is super cute, with a happy wagging tail and a little smile. She is not shy with anyone and is very social and friendly. She loves to be with her people but does not demand attention. She will greet you when you come home and is very happy to see you but then is content to go on about her day. She appears younger because she is able to run, jump and climb stairs without any problem. I would describe her energy level as moderate. She loves to walk, but wants to come home fairly quickly. Her coat is easy to care for and she sheds very little.

She has only been around small children when walking her, and she hasn’t shown any fear when encountering them. She is very calm and playful with the cats. She is fine in general with other dogs and enjoys playing with smaller dogs. She can get overwhelmed in a crowd of dogs and is somewhat afraid of big dogs but does okay one on one with them.

In the home Princess is quiet almost all the time. If she hears a dog when she is in the yard, she will bark very briefly. She was afraid and started to bark a lot (which she seldom does) at a person who rode past us on a skateboard on our walk. Her favourite things to do are to go out with her people, walking or in the car, having her belly rubbed and sleeping. She is just a delightful, easy to care for, little companion.

Princess is fine being left on her own at home (well she does have the cats for company). She listens when I go out and tell her to stay, and she comes when called. She not destructive, she doesn’t get into anything she shouldn’t and there are no surprises for me when I get home. She is fully house trained. She will eat the cats food if given a chance, but when she is told “no”, she will listen. She is very easy to have around the house as far as good behaviour. I have not used a crate with Princess and there would be no need to crate her. She is leash trained and walks along like the little Princess she is. She really likes riding in the car. She sits in the back on the back window ledge of our hatchback. I have not taken her on trips of more than 30 minutes.

Princess is such a great dog. She is a happy girl. She loves to be with people, but she does not demand attention, and will happily sleep in her dog bed or on the back of the couch across the room. She likes to greet you at the door, but she does not overreact when you leave the house. She likes attention but can spend time alone. She’s perfect!

Princess would be great in any home. She would be fine with a yard, but also in an apartment with two short-medium walks a day or even one walk and being let out in the yard a few times. She would be happy with other pets (perhaps not large dogs, but can’t say for sure). She would be fine with a person who is home a lot or a working person, with a family or a single person.
