Peanut's Story...
"Peanut" is a cute one-year old female Beagle who arrived at the HSOV on April 29, 2017 after a Good Samaritan found her on Briggs Hll Road in the Belpre Ohio area and brought her to the safety of our shelter.

This adorable little girl has a tan/black/white short smooth coat, a long tail, and a darling face with characteristic features of her noble breed including extra-large brown velvet ears. "Peanut" has a sweet disposition and is extremely friendly. She seems a little 'on edge' and we are wondering if perhaps she was frightened by the line of thunderstorms which moved through the mid-Ohio Valley earlier that morning and began to run :(

"Peanut" is a petite young lady who weighs just 18.8 lbs. Walking on a leash seems like a new experience for her but our Beagle-loving photographer was more than happy to have an excuse to carry her around in her arms <3

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, "Peanut" will be held for three days so that her owner will have an opportunity to reclaim her. She will be available for adoption on May 2, 2017 if she is not reclaimed before that date.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peanut, a Marietta Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
