My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Qbert is a two-year-old, five-pound, special needs fawn and white Chihuahua looking for a loving guardian.

Qbert might have been ill as a puppy … but, he’s doing great now. However, he has been left with a funny tentative gait and his eyes don’t appear to focus very well. He has a funny spring in his step.

He’s a nice guy whose former family didn’t know what to do with him so they left him outside all the time. When they moved, they dropped him off at the local animal control. He’s been in rescue for over a year now and doing great in his foster home. The neurologist said there’s been some damage and there is really nothing that can be done but allow him to live out his life and be loved.

He adores people and is very cuddly. He may be best in a home without small children because he gets upset if he accidentally gets knocked over. Due to his special needs, he also gets upset on leash so best in a home where he can be taken out to do his business in a fenced in yard. He’s just about housebroken if he gets outside enough.

When his foster mom goes to work, Qbert stays in an exercise pen with a puppy pee pad … he’s perfectly content. He also does best eating wet food. He can be an only dog or can live with other gentle-natured dogs. We don’t know if he has ever met a cat.

He is otherwise healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested.
