Rio is a young boxer mix with a bouncy, spunky personality to match. He is very playful with his other rescue pals that he enjoys to spend time with. Rio loves going on walks and listens well when we go on pack walks with other dogs in training. Rio has a lot of energy but he is good and relaxing at all the right times, he has an air of independence to him and does like his time to himself as well. Rio can be stubborn at times and needs a leader that will set good boundaries and rules to make sure he stays on his best behavior.Rio is also very affectionate and goofy. He can't wait to be part of the right humans family.
Rio has been working with a trainer on learning how to share and give up things that he has, such as toys and bones. Rio has some food aggression and resource guarding. This is a behavior that can be managed so well that the behavior no longer continues, but he needs an assertive pack leader that will exercise him enough so that he has an outlet and a job daily. Something to expend his energy in a positive way. Rios adopters are required to participate in an obedience class to help them bond and help him see the family as a pack that leads him to success. He does wonderful with the trainer and the trainer will prepare the adopters with all info on how to keep him in check. Rio does like children but shouldn't live with any little kids. Teenagers are a better age bracket and up.
