Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Blind Dog Rescue Alliance will transport within reasonable distance. Sweet gentle Mocha is being fostered in PA.
While Mocha is blind, he is a gentle easy going adult dog that has met everyone in his new foster home calmly. This is what Mocha's foster mom has to say about Mocha:
Mocha has shown more of his personality since he came into his foster home. He has changed in some areas described on his adoption page.
Where he once was going upstairs, he is no longer. He tumbled down from the landing to the first floor (about 3 steps) and he has not wanted anything to do with stairs since then. His foster mom will keep trying when they are outside, where he does not seem to transfer that fear and see how he does. With his long body, short little legs and age, she really does not feel he is safe on more than 2 or 3 stairs any way.
Mocha is carried up and down stairs and outside and inside every day. He NEEDS a gate at the top of stairs to stop him from tumbling. He is VERY cooperative when being carried and seems to be used to it from before he arrived at his foster home.
Mocha is starting to bark as his meals are being made. He is much more interested in food than he was when he first arrived on April 22nd. His foster mom thinks he was probably a little depressed, having left the only home he every knew for 12 years before coming with her.
Mocha lives very well with other dogs but does not appreciate them getting into his personal space and will give a warning growl before snapping at them. Since he is blind, he rarely gets hold of anyone :)
Mocha is coming much better when called. He will hunt for his foster mom if she is in a different room from him, watching tv. He now knows where the sofa is and as long as she continues to call him, he will find her and put his front paws up on the sofa to be picked up for cuddle time. He is STILL an awesome cuddler and will gently paw at his foster mom if she doesn't pet him long enough when they first sit down to watch tv at night.
Mocha remains a gentle, loving little cuddle bug who would make a great pet for a family who is looking for a lap dog and who would be able to carry him up and down stairs. He has NEVER shown any kind of aggression toward people in normal circumstances (not having matted fur shaved), just pups who get into his personal space. He remains extremely easy-going with people.
Mocha was recently groomed and had some matting in his leg creases. He was not a happy boy and gave his groomer a run for her money for a few minutes. She was sure his growling and snapping was from the discomfort when she was trying to shave his matted fur. He was fantastic with his bath, when she trimmed his back and for his blow dry.
Blind Dog Rescue Alliance has voted against the use of electric fencing effective immediately.
