Facts about Arthur

  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 17005DOS
Arthur is a 6 year old (DOB 4/23/11), male, Long Haired Chihuahua who was rescued from a local shelter. He was not well taken care of by his previous owners and needed a lot of medical care. Arthur is special needs due to his size. He is abnormally small so he can never be allowed to jump off of couches, chairs, beds etc. Arthur has Luxating Patellas on both knees and a heart murmur but is doing well with these issues at this time. He may need heart medication in the future and his knees could require surgery as he ages. Arthur does well with small dogs but is not good with most large dogs. He is great with cats. Arthur is a resource guarder. He guards his best friend from other dogs, guards his food, guards his space on his bed and just about anything he thinks is his. He does this to other animals and on occasion to people. This behavior is being worked on daily but it has not yet been eliminated. Arthur has some separation anxiety which is also being worked on. He is now up to 1 1/2 hours that he can be alone without losing his tiny mind. So he will need to be in a home where someone is home a great deal of the time. Now that we have the bad stuff out of the way, here is the good stuff about Arthur. He is adorable, sweet, smart, likes to cuddle when he decides to, enjoys short walks and is house trained. Arthur has learned to ride in the car and although he doesn’t love it, he tolerates it. Arthur would be a perfect dog for a retired person/couple or someone who works from home. Due to his extremely small size he should not live with children under 12. Arthur has been fully vetted, is heartworm negative, up to date on his vaccinations and has been neutered. If you would like to schedule a time to meet Arthur please call 507-451-4512. His adoption fee is 200.00. (CS)

About Steele County Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

We all know that kittens/puppies have a lot of spunk and energy and are perfect for some people. However, by adopting a more mature animal, you bypass the active kitten/puppy phase and it allows you to take the guess work out of what your pet will be like after he/she does some growing.

The Steele County Humane Society, Incorporated is a not for profit organization dedicated to:
* Providing quality foster care for homeless cats and dogs.
* Encouraging the adoption of homeless cats and dogs.
* Encouraging spaying and neutering to reduce the pet overpoplulation.

We rely on the love and care of volunteers to foster our animals until a permanent home can be found and are in desperate need of people willing to open their hearts and homes to these pets in need. Please call 507-451-4512 for more information.
