Cowboy's Story...
Howdy, my name is Cowboy! I'm about 10 months old and weigh 36 pounds. My foster mom says I am super smart and can be easily trained. I already know sit and lay down. I also learned how to go in and out of the dog door and have not had any accidents in the house since. I love playing with dogs and kids and really like playing fetch. I walk well on the leash, too. I bark in the crate for a few minutes, but then I sleep through the night. I am very soft and cuddly and want to be on the couch and the bed to keep you company. I'm playful but not hyper. I have not tried to hurt the cats in my foster home, but they are interesting and I like to bark at them. But that might stop once I am used to them. So what do you say? Need a fun buddy to add to your family? If so, email info@habitat4paws.org for more on how to make me yours!

**Because we require home visits, we only adopt locally to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For more on adoption policies, please see the Adopt page of our website, www.habitat4paws.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cowboy, a McKinney Retriever (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Retriever (Unknown Type) for sale in McKinney, or seeking a Retriever (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in McKinney.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in McKinney already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a McKinney breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Retriever (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Retriever (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in McKinney paves the way for another one to be saved.
