My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hope is an 11 year old 18 pound girl looking for love! Hope is house trained and crate trained and would like a home without small children or kitties.

Hope came into our rescue very overweight and with the help of her foster mom in Alabama, she has lost 18 pounds! Now a healthy weight, Hope needs a home that understands that she cannot ever have 'free' food as she will gobble everything left in sight given the opportunity. She likes to try and sneak some of her foster fursyblings food when she gets a chance!

Hope sleeps in her kennel at night as she does like to go wandering if she is not contained. She does very well with dogs of all ages and sizes. She is a calm somewhat submissive girl who goes with the flow. Hope does have some separation anxiety and needs to be reassured. She will cry when she is upset. Hope loves to sleep with a blanket and loves to burrow under and cuddle!

Hope loves car rides! She would love a home where her people could be home most of the time and take her along with them when they venture out. Hope is leash trained and well mannered on her lead.

Hope is very well housetrained and has not had any accidents since arriving in her foster home, but like all dachshunds she will need to be confident in her environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience is important.

Hope is heartworm positive and we are treating her with a slow kill protocol. GetALong Dachshund Rescue will continue to provide this treatment for any approved adopter of Hope, until such time she tests negative for heart worms. Hope is also on thyroid medication that she needs to take daily.

Hope is a charming laid back girl who is waiting for her new life to begin. Today, she is waiting, just for you! You can be the one who gets to welcome her home. Apply to adopt Hope today !
