Hanzo is a super sweet boy who is looking for his forever family. He has a gentle-ness about him that people recognize when they meet him. This 5-year-old Akita mix loves going for walks and is eager to go anytime his foster heads out the door! He needs some leash work (esp when he spots a squirrel) but is already getting better. Hanzo is happy to meet people and get a nice petting if stopped to talk with folks. He isn't shy about letting you know you can pet him:) But he's not obnoxious about it either. He's been great with respectful kids. He does great with other dogs but would do best with one that isn't too hyper (and he seems to like small/medium dogs better than large ones despite being large himself). He isn't a fan of a crate and won't go in by choice but he's not destructive in the house so his foster has been leaving him out in the house. He is so sweet and has a lot of personality and would be a great companion for an individual or a family who either works from home or is able to come home at lunch or more. He is heart worm positive; however, a generous sponsor will pay for that treatment!!You are are interested in this animals, please, fill out an adoption application and we will be in touch.

Our Adoption Process...

Found an animal on our site and want to meet them or find out more about them? Fill out the adoption questionnaire located below and submit to us. Once we have reviewed/approved your application, we will provide you with the foster contact information so that you can find out more and arrange a “meet and greet”. All of our animals are located in foster homes throughout the Triangle area.

When going to a “meet and greet”, please make sure you take any family members and other pets (if at all possible) to observe their interactions. This can make introduction into the new home easier for the animals and for you.

The animal’s foster parent will ultimately make a recommendation to the organization regarding the permanent placement of the animal. Once an adoption decision has been made by both parties, we ask for an adoption fee to help us cover spay/neutering, shots, medical treatment, food and supplies – this amount only partially cover the cost of expenses and allows us to help as many animals as possible!

What if the adoption doesn’t work out? We have a lifetime return policy on our animals as we don’t want to see them turned back into a shelter.
