Greetings all its Frankie & Angie!

Many years ago we had a wonderful home, our mommy loved us so much but she became ill and had to leave us and she entrusted us in the care of her best friend. For 3 years we lived with her but she fell on hard times and could no longer care for us. Then enter FOHA who offered to help and placed us in a foster home. The foster family loves us and takes such good care of us. They make homemade cookies that we love, let us sleep by their side at night, play with us in the backyard and most of all they love and accept us as the “senior pups”!

We know many adopters want a puppy, they are super cute and love to play and we are seniors. But my foster mommy tells us all the time there is a home out there that will love & appreciate an old couple like us. Let us tell you all about us!

I am Frankie, a 12 year old pug. I am very distinguished looking as my foster mommy says! I still like to play, I love sitting outside in the sun but most of all I love following my person around! I don’t have any known health issues and I have always been to the vets and well cared for.

Its Frankie again, I am going to speak for my bestest friend Angie as she is shy! Angie is a 14 year (young) shih tzu. She is a doll, loves everyone, loves being a couch potato but yet she will still hang outside with me too. She is like a mouse not a peep ever out of her. She can only see shadows and is getting a little hard of hearing. She has Lyme disease but it doesn’t impact her in anyway. She also has some other health issues that come along with age. (I don’t want to talk too much about her health issues and make her sad).

What I really want to tell you is Angie & I are a pair, bestest buddies in the entire world! We have never been apart, I am her body guard and watch over her at all times. We are like superglue so we need to find a home together.

Sometimes I just sit in the backyard with my foster mommy and I see tears and when I stare at her with my tongue hanging out and snorting it makes her laugh, she told me that pugs rule because they can make the worst day of your life turn around in a second with their goofy expressions and snorting! She tells me that some lucky person is going to one day come across our picture and say that’s them, the dogs I have been looking for. The dogs that want to chill take slow walks and sit beside me.

We may not be puppies running around, catching toys we are so much more…we are loyal, loveable and so deserving of a family we can call our ownJ

About Friends of Homeless Animals, Inc.(FOHA)

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a volunteer group that are helping primarily Boston Terriers, Boston mixes and other small dogs when resources permit. We rescue locally and all around the country - if our need help is needed.
  • We do not have a shelter so there are no set visiting hours or place to visit. We foster all the dogs in foster homes in various locations.

    We need foster parents!

We cannot save any dogs without volunteers to help foster our animals. Please help us to help them - become a foster parent.

Donations are gladly accepted and appreciated.
If you cannot adopt a dog, foster a dog or donate your time, we have made it easy for you to make a donation online.
Donations can be made securely by Paypal:

  • Come Meet Our Pets...

We do NOT have a shelter. All our dogs are fostered in individual homes. Meetings are by appointment only after you have completed our online application. THANKS!

    Our Adoption Process...

Our dogs listed on Adopt a Pet all have initials following the name of the dog. The initials show the State: RI, CT, NJ, NY, etc. where these dogs are being fostered.
If you see a dog with initials after the name of the dog, these are dogs that are not in our LOCAL area but transport will be arranged for those dogs. For example: W, CF, M, RH, etc.

Please remember that we are ALL volunteers & will respond to you as quickly as we can in all communications. We are not paid volunteers and try to keep the phones and emails manned but sometimes there may be a lapse in time. We appreciate your patience.

Step 1 - Complete an online application -

Step 2 - Please reserve your dog by making a $200 deposit on Paypal -

E-mail address to use for deposit (which is applied toward total donation) is:

You can meet any of our local dogs with JUST an online application and NO deposit, but must be approved, etc. 1st in order to take your dog home.

Step 3 - Let your references know that a volunteer will be contacting them.

Step 4 - Once your references are contacted, a volunteer will be in touch to arrange your home visit.

Step 5 - Once you have been approved, pick up information, balance due, and adoption contract will be e-mailed to you.

Please remember our dogs generally all have a pull fee from a shelter, LOTS of vet costs for initial shots and tests, spay or neuter, and then transport costs to bring the dogs to our area. This is just the beginning of the costs for a rescue. We then depend on our volunteers to buy the dog food, we pay for any additional vetting costs and grooming for the dog. There are many costs and we depend on our adoption donations to HELP pay our costs. We are a non-profit charity 501(c)3 and depend on donations for rescuing our dogs. Most times, the adoption fee does not cover the costs associated with that dogs rescue costs.

Donations are listed on each dog's description.

Click here to complete our online application!

References listed on your application will be checked prior to any meetings with a dog. We do require a HOME VISIT PRIOR to any adoption.

Some dogs are local, but many are not - they are in various locations so it will not be possible to meet some of them before you adopt.

We only will transport the dogs if you make a firm commitment and a $200 DEPOSIT as the paid transport is costly & difficult to arrange & we do not have enough foster homes.

Deposit Donations can be made by Paypal:
