Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.
NAME: Gizmo
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Born in January 2017
WEIGHT: About 2 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Gets along with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Needs to be in an All Adult Home
COAT: Long Haired, White & Brown Coat
OTHER: Special Needs
Introducing our newest puppy, Gizmo! Gizmo is a handsome little guy. He has beautiful green eyes and beautiful long haired white coat with brown markings. He is looking for a forever home to grow up in!
Gizmo's journey with us started out a little rough. We received a call from Amarillo shelter asking if we could take in an ill puppy. When we picked him up, he was in pretty bad shape. He had diarrhea from worms and bacteria. We really don't think he would have made it had we gotten him a day later. The good news is that all of this has been treated and he is healing nicely. And Gizmo is so happy to be safe.
Gizmo is Gidget's little brother. He is definitely the smallest of the litter. He is currently only 2 pounds. He should gain a few more pounds as he grows, but in all likelihood he will never be more than about 4 pounds. Because of his tiny size, we recommend an all adult home.
Gizmo also has something wrong with his back end. We aren't sure what causes his back legs and back end to not work correctly. As a result we need him to be in a home that will recognize his limitations. He can poop fine on his own but sometimes needs a little back end clean up! He will make a great little dog for someone who wants that "special" one to carry everywhere or cuddle with. As we mentioned above, he is tiny and he won't get more than about 4 lbs. There is a possibility he is hydrocephalic.
Gizmo has an adorable personality. Gizmo gets along with the other small dogs in his foster home (he is around other puppies). He enjoys playing, but of course has to be watched because he is so tiny and fragile. Gizmo doesn't know he is small though - he has a big personality! And he adores his people. If you are the type of person who loves having their Chihuahua with them all the time, Gizmo is your guy!
As a puppy, Gizmo is working on his potty training. We are teaching him how to go potty outside, and how to use pee pee pads. Gizmo enjoys going outside, but is small and therefore will always need his human near by while he is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Gizmo). He is also crate trained.
Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/
Gizmo is neutered, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. He is ready to join a loving family - could that family be yours?
