My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 12 months
Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 50 lbs
Variety: Mix

We already know what you're thinking: "Sheba doesn't look much like a Springer!" While that's true, she was a dog we couldn't turn away. Sheba came from a situation in which there weren't resources available to correct her congenital eye condition, entropion. This had caused Sheba's eyelids to turn inward and rub on her corneas.

Within two days of arriving in foster care, Sheba had her eyes surgically fixed. While she had always been able to see, it's clear that she is, at last, in a world of comfort. It was painful to look at her before, but now we can see her beautiful brown eyes!

Sheba is a young girl with a good deal of energy. She is a quick study and would benefit from some obedience classes to help her learn some basics and to establish her bond with her new family. In her foster home, Sheba has quickly learned the command Sit.

This sweet girl loves to love. She frequently seeks out people for attention, and she enjoys snuggling up on the couch or in bed. She also likes to give kisses by licking! If there is any Springer in her, it's demonstrated in this Velcro quality.

Because of Sheba's puppy-like energy, she hasn't mastered good body boundaries, so she may be overwhelming for young children. She tends to jump up with excitement. Therefore, any children in her Forever Home should be adolescents.

We don't know about Sheba's interaction with cats, but her foster home includes other Springers who don't always appreciate her youthful energy. We recommend that any resident dogs be of comparable energy to match this spunky girl. Sheba would also benefit from a fenced yard so she can expend her energy safely.

Sheba loves to chew on bully sticks or rawhides. She won't tolerate being crated, but she has slowly earned free rein of the house when the people are gone.

This lovely girl has soft fur, a beautiful tick-marked coat, and cute black ears. What Sheba wants most is a family to snuggle with her and give her the time and attention she deserves. We can see that Sheba's future is bright!

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Sheba.
