Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Skip is a very smart, energetic and sweet Australian Shepherd (probably border collie mix). He needs a person or family that is familiar with this energetic herding breed.
He’s nearly a year old and while he has been taught many commands like sit, stay, come (not perfect yet) lay down, off, fetch, paws (for wiping), he received little socialization. Consequently he's unsure when meeting people and dogs and is reactive on leash when he meets new people and dogs. He has been fine at doggy day care. He was raised with children, but because of his energy level we think he will do best in a home without children under 10.
This is a boy that needs a lot of exercise and more socialization. He is crate trained…is used to sleeping in his crate at night. Like many dogs his age, he might chew on something he should not, so when he is left alone, he needs to be confined so he doesn’t have access to forbidden items he might want to chew on. Skip is used to having human companionship most of the time, so he will do best in a home where he doesn’t need to regularly be left alone for many hours. And Skip needs a fenced yard (not invisible fence).
(An adoption donation of $250 is required.)
If you are interested in this dog, please go to the Adopt page of our website where you will find a link to an adoption application form https://www.chewdogrescue.org/index.php/adopt. If you have previously submitted an application form, there is no need to re-apply. Just let us know you're interested in this dog. We do our best to match families and dogs so everyone is pleased and the placement is permanent. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of the rescue dog. Rescue is about doing our best for the dog. We do home and reference checks. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up to date with current vaccinations, before being placed in their forever homes.
