found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.
Shiva was under-exercised and always punished for doing things that were a result of built up anxiety, and also not trained properly. She was "trained" with dominance theory (alpha rolls, holding her muzzle shut, yelling, isolation). She quickly developed a fear issue, particularly with males, who was the primary "disciplinarian".
We had one of our wonderful trainers evaluate Shiva and it was clear she was not the problem. Shiva is now away from that home and off to better things. She is good with dogs and kids (although she is a big girl at 95lbs and could easily knock down a smaller one). She is not aggressive with cats, but does chase and bark at them. We think Shiva would do best in a home without cats and a fenced in yard so that she can run and play.
Shiva LOVES other dogs. She is attending doggie daycare once a week and loves it. She is even building some confidence being part of the pack. She would love a brother or sister doggie companion in her home.
Shiva is working through her fear issues, but is already doing wonderful in her foster home. She has been cuddling with her foster dad on the couch in just a short time. Her biggest issue is that she is challenging to walk because she is so happy about all the smells! She will learn once everything isn't so novel! She will also just need someone committed to teaching her the right way to do things.
