Meet Gunnar, a handsome 5-year-old male Weimaraner who has been with the rescue for over 10 months. Gunnar has worked through some behavioral challenges with his foster family, but has adjusted fully to being a part of their family and is ready to find a new forever home!

Gunnar will take some time to warm up to a new family, but once he trusts someone and is comfortable with them, he will absolutely LOVE them and be excited to see them! Gunnar would probably do best in a home with an experienced large dog owner without kids, and with dogs that are not overzealous. He gets along with other dogs, but tends to be a loner, and does not like other dogs to be in his face. Gunnar is a little nervous on walks and outside of the home but does travel just fine. He will not be a good candidate to go to dog events or dog parks; he is more of a “chill at home with his people” kind of guy! He does know some basic obedience commands and is very respectful of correction and feedback. Gunnar is house-trained and crate trained, but does not like to be crated. He is fine out in the house as long as there is no food left out. He enjoys squirrel watching, playing with toys and tennis balls, and snuggling under blankets. He will be a wonderful companion for an adult only household that understands that trust takes time, but once earned he will be your loyal companion.

Gunnar’s foster mom and the rescue trainer are available to answer any questions you may have and can help with Gunnar’s transition into a new home. Please consider making Gunnar a part of your family! For more detailed bio information or questions regarding Gunner, please contact us!

About Weimaraner Rescue of Texas

About Our Rescue Group...

WEIMARANER RESCUE of North Texas, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501-C-3, non-profit, charitable organization.

Since 1989, our small group of volunteers has saved over 1,600 Weimaraners from suffering and death. We exist solely on donations and fund raising efforts. Every penny of our proceeds pay for veterinary care, food, boarding and essential expenses. WRNT began as the Rescue Committee of the Lone Star Weimaraner Club, Inc. (formerly North Texas Weimaraner Club). In 1997 WRNT incorporated and was granted 501-C-3 status by the I.R.S., enabling tax deductible donations to our rescue fund.

OUR MISSION is the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of Weimaraners from animal shelters, found stray, abandoned, neglected and abused. We educate the public on responsible pet ownership, and promote spay/neuter. We are dedicated to end the tragedy of pet over-population by opposing puppy mills, pet stores selling live animals, and irresponsible over-breeding of companion animals.
