Hi, I'm Nala a beautiful, intelligent German Shepherd Dog mix. I'm about 35 pounds and just a pup so I'm going to be a large dog when I'm fully grown. I'm house and crate trained and working on my leash and obedience training. I know commands like sit, no and working on wait, shake, roll-over, spin and crawl – and I'm loving learning all these new things. My foster says I'm very smart and am learning quickly. He also says that I come when he calls my name. I'm dog and kid friendly but since there are no cats at my foster's home, not sure about that. My foster says that I don't have a harmful bone in my body so as long as the cat was used to an active fun loving puppy, it probably would be OK. My dream family would be active and include me in all their activities. If there was another dog about my size and also active to play with me, that would be great.  I'd love to have a large yard with a 6 foot fence to run and jump and play in. I get a little nervous when riding in the car, but if you don't do sudden stops or turns and keep the AC a little cooler, I'm fine. If you're that special family that is looking for that new member of your “team”, please come see me at Petco on Saturday.

Adopter for Nala must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home.

Adoption fee for Nala is $175.

About Second Chance Pets

About Our Rescue Group...

Second Chance Pets (SCP) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 animal welfare organization dedicated to providing unwanted pets a second chance through foster care and pet adoption programs, educating the public about proper care for their own animals and about animal welfare issues, and working with the public, other rescue groups, and public officials to help resolve the problem of animal overpopulation.

Come Meet Our Pets...

SCP does not have a shelter or an office location. The rescued pets, volunteers, fosters, and adopters who comprise SCP come from all over the Galveston Bay area (mainly north Galveston and south Harris counties). Our adoptable animals are fostered and loved in volunteer homes until a permanent home is found.

SCP has cats and dogs available for adoption every Saturday from 11-4 at the Petco Clear Lake store (2410 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058 - corner of Bay Area and Space Center). A few cats may also be seen during the week in the condos at this Petco location

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete applications so that volunteers can help adopters identify cats and dogs that will fit best in their homes. SCP volunteers review the applications and discuss pet care responsibilities with potential adopters. The adoption fee typically starts at $95 for cats and $175 for dogs.

SCP tries to ensure that all pets are healthy at the time of adoption. All are examined by veterinarians when they enter the program. All are vaccinated, spayed, neutered, de-wormed, tested/treated for parasites and disease (such as heartworms, fleas, feline leukemia and FIV) as needed. Cats are vaccinated for FVRCP and FeLV. Dogs are vaccinated for DHLPP and Corona virus. Animals are kept in foster homes when available to minimize exposure to disease and to help them be well-adjusted. It is the policy of SCP that no cat or dog may be sent to a permanent home before it is fully vetted, including spay or neuter. All of our rescued animals are microchipped.
