Daisy May is a six-year-old Chihuahua mix that weighs seven pounds. She came to Puppy Pals Rescue as an owner surrender. Daisy May's previous owners informed us that she had been hit by a car about a year ago and at that time lost use of her left front leg. She is a very strong lady and overcame this handicap on her own. Little Daisy May does well using only three legs to walk, jump, and run. She can even climb stairs without difficulty. Her left front leg is contractured and bent. The Vet checked the damaged leg and said circulation was good and thought she had possible nerve damage which could not be repaired. It does seem that she will use the bent leg for balance at times.

Daisy May just loves to play with stuffed toys and sleeps next to one most of the time. She currently lives with two other Chihuahuas and does well with them. She does tend to want to be the boss. She lived with Peanut who is another Puppy Pals Rescue dog that was surrendered with her also. She will jump up on peoples' laps for petting. She is very social. She loves to get affection. She also runs and plays with the other dogs outside.

Daisy May sleeps in the crate at night without any problems. She has not soiled her crate. She is 95% house broken and has an accident rarely. We are currently working on getting that to 100%. She is learning the sit command and does that about 70 % of the time.

She has been spayed, micro chipped, had all her shots, fecal and heartworm tested and both were negative, and up to date on her flea and tick protection. During the physical examination she was found to have a heart murmur but has no symptoms and needs no medication to treat it at this time.

Daisy May has not had an easy life for sure. Despite this she remains a sweet and affectionate lady. I am looking for a great forever home for this little lady. A single person or a retired person or family would be a great home for her. She has not been around children here so I don't know how she would be. She does not like cats. A fenced yard is preferred. If you can give her the great forever home she deserves, please fill out an adoption application for a meet and greet.

Adoption Donation Fee = $200

If you have any questions please contact the foster home at the link found at Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting this pup - you can find those at (Email the foster home and let them know you applied so they can be sure the application is received!)

Daisy May just can't wait to find a forever home! Thanks!!!

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small group of friends who all volunteer their personal time and work hard using special talents to make an impact on the life of a dog in need (one at a time). We are experienced in small, long-haired breeds with special focus on the Yorkshire Terrier.

Our volunteers foster out of their homes. We raise funds with members who handcraft doggie items and homebaked doggie treats to sell at area craft fairs and festivals.

We can always use help and support! FOSTER HOMES ARE ALWAYS NEEDED in the Greater Dayton area.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our fosters are in our volunteer's homes and an appointment would be needed to meet the dog.

We do pet events - check the Events calendar on our website at for more information.

You can also visit our website to complete an application to adopt or email us with questions.

Our Adoption Process...

To adopt - An application will need to be completed which will include 3 personal references; and, a vet reference (if you have one).

A telephone interview by the foster home and a home visit will be scheduled. Once these are completed the foster home has the final say on the adoptive family.

We match the dog's personality with the family. Every animal is different; some are child friendly - others might not be. Some require fenced-in yards .. others might not. We discourage the use of invisible fences for small breed dogs.

Our fees are based on the age and medical needs of the dog and range from $100 - $400.
