My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Lexi and I am a 10 year old Pom/Chi. My foster mom rescued me from a very bad situation. My former owners didn't take very good care of me and wanted to put me down just because I wasn't perfect and needed a little medical attention. See, as I grew older, I developed allergies that were severely neglected and they never took the time to get me the medical attention that I so deserved. I felt really bad and itched all the time. I had lost almost all my hair from itching, my face was swollen, and I also had really bad teeth. I didn't understand why my former family just kept ignoring me and instead kept getting new pets. What did I do wrong???

Than my foster mom heard this story and believed in me and thought I deserved a chance. She knew that all I needed was some medical attention, love, and a chance. After several vet visits, months of medications, medicated baths, and some dental work, I feel 100% better. My hair has almost all grown back and my teeth feel great. My allergies have subsided and I am off all medications and feel like a brand new dog and am ready for my furever home.

Even though I am a bit on the older side I do love to play with little dogs the most. I do play with my foster mom’s bigger dogs but sometimes they scare me because of their size. I love to go for car rides and walks but also love to lounge on the couch or in my foster moms lap. Sometimes it takes me time to warm up to new people, but once I know you I am your best friend. I know how to sit for a treat and I sleep in my foster mom’s bed under the covers. I am potty trained and not a big fan of the kennel but will use one if my foster mom insists.

I would be OK in almost any type of household. I have been around other dogs (small), kids, and cats. My ideal home would probably be a semi quiet home with either some middle aged to older small dog or by myself would be fine also I am pretty low key with a little spunk. All I want is a warm, safe place to live and some love to live out my years. Will it be you???

Lexi’s adoption fee is $125, and adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad City Area.
