My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?

Hi! My name is Scout!

How old are you?

I’m small, but the vet thinks I’m 1-1 ½ years old! I look like a puppy but I’m told that I’m full grown.

What do you look like?

I am about 40 lbs. and shouldn’t get much bigger. I am mostly white with patches of brindle on my head and back. My coat is super soft too!

What do you like to eat?

When Even Chance found me, I was underweight, malnourished and my coat was a WRECK! My foster moms feed me food that’s high in protein to help my body get back on track and I love it! I’m working on gaining some muscle too, so it’s perfect.

What kind of personality do you have?

I love to curl up and snuggle next to anyone that will snuggle back! I LOVE to play ball and have learned to bring it back for another throw. My foster mom says I have a goofy run and that I sometimes look like a bucking bronco when I play. I think it’s an endearing quality myself. I also enjoy going on walks with my foster family.

Describe your perfect day:

Pretty much anytime I can go outside and play ball, I’m happy. I really enjoy chasing my foster sister, Mavis, around the yard, finding a nice warm patch of sun to lay in and then coming in for a long, snuggly nap. I also love to go on car rides! Anywhere my humans go, I want to go.

What is your favorite toy?

I like all toys and really love to chew on frozen peanut butter bones/Kongs when I’m in my kennel.

Do you know any tricks?

I know how to sit and stay. I may not do it every time I’m asked yet, but I’m learning and very willing to please. My biggest trick is that I’m fully house trained and never have accidents in the house or my kennel!

What scares you?

There isn’t much that scares me, actually. I wasn’t sure about the lawn mower at first, but now I like to go outside while my foster mom mows and lay in the sun. I’m really confident and don’t spook easily.

Do you like cats?

I love my foster sister cat, Romey! I was curious about her at first, but once I figured out she was cool, I was cool. My foster mom says I’m the first dog EVER that she’s allowed to lay next to her and sleep.

Do you have any doggie best friends?

My big foster sister, Mavis, is my very best friend! She’s an English Setter and very patient with me as I learn my play manners. She has taught me so much!

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would love a forever home with a fenced backyard so I could run and play ball!

How is your health?

When Even Chance took me in, I wasn’t in very good shape. I was underweight, had mange, roundworms, splayed feet and walked with a bad limp. BUT since I’ve been free, I’ve been on medications and supplements to help me heal and I’m doing much better!

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?

I live with my 2 foster moms and their tiny humans (ages 10 and 12), my bestie, Mavis, who is a 6 year old English Setter and a 12 year old Devon Rex cat, Romey.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone?

When my humans are gone, I always hang out in my kennel. It’s so nice and comfy in there and it makes me feel safe. It also keeps me out of trouble.

Where do you sleep?

I sleep in my kennel and never make a peep! I sleep all night long and wake up rested and ready for my day! I even go in my kennel on my own for naps during the day.

What do you love about your foster family?

My foster family has been really patient with me while I’ve learned to live in a house setting. They give me so much love and attention and I love cuddling with them any chance I get!

What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?

I was brought to Animal Control as a stray, so they didn’t know much about my past. I’m just grateful someone got me off of the streets and that Even Chance rescued me! I’m a really great guy and I can’t wait to find my perfect forever home!

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they grow up. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for you and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
