Wherever this girl goes, the crowd parts and rolls out the red carpet for her. She is large, in charge and her theme song, Arethra Franklin's R-E-S-P-E-C-T can often be heard trailing behind her. Sugar is a strong, independent woman who enjoys sitting on the patio in the sunshine sipping on a lemonade and rolling her eyes at the sillier of her feline friends. She will announce when petting time should commence and make it very clear when it is over. Petting time lasts longer with the humans who have learned the perfect spot, pressure, and duration of the petting.

About Kindness Ranch Animal Sanctuary

About Our Shelter...

The mission of the Kindness Ranch is to provide a sanctuary and place of rehabilitation for animals who have been used in laboratory research.

Staff at Kindness Ranch work to rehabilitate our dogs and cats in a home-like environment. Cats and dogs at the ranch live together with their human caretakers in spacious yurts specially designed to meet their needs. They receive round-the-clock care to help them adjust to their new lives.

The Kindness Ranch also provides foster and adoption programs for all the animals we can rehabilitate. Those who are too debilitated, old or ill to be placed in a loving home can remain on the ranch to live out their days, surrounded by caretakers and volunteers who put the animals’ well-being first.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Potential adopters are welcome to visit Kindness Ranch and meet the animals by appointment. Some animals are also able to visited in or near their foster homes. We sometimes hold adoption events in Cheyenne, WY and Casper, WY.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an adoption application to be filled out and may request a home visit if deemed necessary. Potential adopters are counseled on the special needs that many lab animals have and will work with a staff member to find a good match for their home. The adoption fee is $50 for cats and $150 for dogs. All adopters sign an adoption contract, as well, and are encouraged to keep in touch with pictures and stories!
