My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bio Update:
Logan is a VERY sweet & loving GSD. He loves walks & playing fetch. He is quite submissive & is great with other dogs. He would be fine as an only dog or with other non-dominant dogs. He would thrive in a home where at least one member is home as he does not like being alone. His bark is nice and loud but he only uses it when someone knocks at the door, more of an alert bark, not aggressive at all.

Logan needs a LOT of daily exercise or he gets anxious. He will let you know when it is time to play or use the bathroom. He will require a very active family who will not neglect his need for daily exercise. Preferably a few walks and a round of fetch every day. He loves mental exercise and learning new tricks. He acts much younger and has great energy for a 6 yr old dog. He does not like being outdoors alone, he is very much an inside dog.

He is a snuggle bug & will cuddle with you on the couch, or just lay at your feet. He prefers to sleep on the floor or in bed with you but is also crate trained. He knows how to use the doggie door and likes bring brushed, and he also sheds less than a normal GSD does.
Logan is wary of new people, but is extremely loyal to his family.
End Bio Update

Logan came to us in April of 2017 from owners who said they didn’t have any time for him. He was being crated almost 20 out of 24 hours. He came with no socialization skills which made him unsure & skeptical of most things. However, after being with his foster mom, he is no longer crated, he plays well with other dogs, he knows to sit, stay, down, and high five. He also likes to play soccer ball.

Logan never messes in the house, and is very affectionate and protective of the people in his small circle. He is getting much better at introductions but is still very shy at first and it will take time for him to warm up to anyone new. He’s attended training classes and has done extremely well thus far. He walks very well on leash where we take every opportunity to learn new things and he is only going to get better. It’s all about him feeling secure and trusting his handler/owner.

Logan is a tall and genetically thin dog and his bones are suitable for his size. He’s 61 lbs and at the most, the vet says he should weigh only 65 which is an ideal weight for him. We have the vet records from the time he was 8 weeks old and he's had blood work, fecal work done, had all his shots and is on heartworm prevention.

Logan is a healthy and happy dog who just needs a owner with an abundance of patience and love to bring him to his full potential. It would be a tremendous plus if there was another dog in the picture who was a positive role model because he is very willing to learn and follows the foster mom’s other German shepherd to learn how things are done.

Note from his foster mom:
“Watching Logan make progress every day has been amazing. I have never seen such almost human sensitivity as I have seen in Logan. He lives to please and you can see it in his face. I love it when he hears a different sound like a bird chirping or sees a cricket for the first time. I have a pond and he saw a frog for the first time in his life, wow, what a gentle soul.”

Even a single owner who is home a lot would be excellent for Logan.

He has the desire; he just needs time to get past the fears. Logan is an amazing dog and if you want to help him and you have what it takes to keep the progress going, then please send in your application.
