My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pixie was found in someone's yard after a major thunderstorm. They contacted a rescue person, who contacted Adopt-A-Pet. And here she is, hoping to find her forever home and shelter from the next storm! Pixie is currently about 12 weeks old. We are not sure of her breed mix, but she looks and acts like she might be a Flat-Coated retriever and Border Collie mix. But only those willing to take pot-luck in terms of what breed and size she grows into as an adult should apply!

Pixie is very friendly, although a little shy at first of new people. She is eager to learn and good with young kids. Pixie is fine around other dogs, both large and small. She is fairly high energy and will require regular exercise as a puppy and as an adult.

Because she is so young, Pixie needs a family where someone is home during the day to get her on a regular schedule for house-training, and keep her exercised and socialized. Obedience classes are a requirement of adoption.

You can meet Pixie at her current foster home-- Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Road in Wilmette--during normal store hours (847-251-6750, wilmettepetcenter.com). Although she is so sweet you will want to take her home on the spot, please note you will have to submit an application for adoption. (Applications available by emailing info@adoptapet-il.org or calling 847-550-9690. For a faster response, we suggest you email).

Her adoption fee of $375 includes exam, DAPP distemper combination vaccination, Bordetella vaccination, flea/tick preventative, heart worm preventative, deworming, microchip and spay.
