*We will not be placing Ivory with Kitties or any small animals including small dogs, but she get's along well with dogs*
** Be sure to watch her videos below to see what a lovely dog she really is! ** Ivory is a purebred Great Pyrenees, she's coming up coming up on about 3 years old. It's very odd but she’s like a “mini” Great Pyr because she only weighs 61 lbs. which is half of what a Pyr usually weighs. We found that she does have a medical issue in that she tested positive for (3) Tick-borne diseases. She has Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma. I've personally rescued #512 dogs & Ivory is the 1st to ever have all three! She has no symptoms -- but she did test positive so we are treating her aggressively with 6 full weeks of Doxycycline. Whoever adopts her should have a urinalysis done annually to maintain that she is medically sound. If there is ever an issue she can go back on another 6-week course of antibiotics. This is not a life threatening situation but she will need to be watched for the rest of her life.
She’s a people lover & she gets along with her foster siblings -- but what makes her special is she LOVES kids --- it’s in her heart. I call dogs like her 'Bona-Fide Kid Lovers!' When she was on a transport on her way to DE from KY she stopped at a family’s home to stay overnight & they had a young boy & she just quivered with joy at seeing him. Next, she laid on the floor next to him so she could get as close to him as possible. Did she have her own kids in her other life? We don’t know, but we do know now that she’s starting over -- she deserves to be adopted into a home where the family is experienced with large breed dogs with lots of hair & her new kids need to have been raised with large dogs & love them.
There is a photo below that shows what she looked when she was surrendered to a kill shelter in KY – you can see she’s heartbroken. She was surrendered because “allegedly” she killed a chicken. For that reason, we will not place Ivory in a home with cats or any other small animals – just to be safe.
