My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dascha arrived with 9 four week old puppies in February. She has a golden personality which extends the same gentleness to people that she did with her large brood of babies. She has recovered from the drain on her body by so many little ones in need of nursing and has filled out beautifully. Her energy level has heightened and she loves walks in the woods with volunteers as well as her time outside in the play yards where she enjoys the friendship on either side of her exercise area. She will be spayed on Apr 26 and can go home with her approved adopter after 5 days of recovery. She has sparkling blue eyes that light up when visitors approach her as she anticipates the attention she hopes will follow. Adoption fee $100. Submit an application at our website to adopt Dascha.

Adoption of all dogs/cats requires an approval process to ensure that they are going into a home appropriate for their needs and that will keep them safe. Each is loved and nurtured by our staff and volunteers during their stay with us and each is placed with same due diligence that they would be given if they were our own furry family members. The approval process can take from 1 to 3 days. That process is initiated with the online (or in office) submission of the application form.

Adoption policies, application procedures and the online application forms are at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.

All approved adopters must accompany their new family member on the journey home. We do not ship nor transport.

Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4.
