My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Raybert - a light red (almost cream) colored boy who is ~8-10 years old and weighs ~17 lbs.
He might need to lose just a little bit from around his waist line. (Don't we all. Tee hee.) Raybert is a sweet adult boy who loves to snuggle with his foster parents and gives them kisses. He is very well mannered, HOUSEBROKEN, crate trained and leash trained. He can be bossy at times with other dogs in the house, and an attentive owner who knows how to keep their pack happily balanced is warranted. He'd also do great as an only dog - he really is eager to please his people. He is a easy keeper and goes with the flow. His foster mom says he is just a joy to have and that he will make somebody an amazing companion. Raybert is neutered, up to date on shots, and ready to be your new best buddy.
EDIT: added information July 29. Sweet Raybert is in the throes of CHF, Congestive Heart Failure. We love him, and his foster paretns love him, he will likely be a fospice dog until his time comes to meet his friends at the Rainbow Bridge. DREAM ensures that our dogs are taken care of until they no longer need that, there is no expiration date on rescue. Send Raybert a little extra love, and his foster parents who will see him through to the next stage.

If you are interested in adopting Raybert, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform2.shtml . Raybert 's adoption fee is $300. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Raybert will go to his/her new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
