My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aubree is now in Rhode Island! She is an absolutely marvelous 10 month old German Shepherd mix girlie who will mature into a large, strapping dog. She arrived in a Uhaul with her entire litter as an older puppy to a high kill facility in Texas, and the whole group was enormously undersocialized. We took two, her sister Adali, who was doing very poorly, and paired her to her sister dog Aubree, who was doing a bit better with the ordeal.

Aubree has thrived in foster care for the past two months in Texas, and was recently switched to a new foster to get used to life on her own, without her sister in tow. She has done marvelously well, so is proven to make transitions well :) She is sweet, smart and eager to learn, but has a lot of energy and is behind the ball in terms of training and manners, so will need someone experienced with raising dogs and able to deal with a higher energy pup. Breed experience preferred, as GSDs can be real dunderheads at this age and Aubree is no exception. She is sweet, eager and very loving....but a lot ;)

Aubree gets on very well with dogs of all sizes as well as cats and seems to do great with kids, although she is too much for smaller kids and already rather big, so only families with older kids can be considered. She has some surface timidity, easily remedied by a stranger giving her treats, lol!, and deserves to have her socialization continued, alongside training. She knows some basic commands but will thrive with consistency, structure and expectation.

Early applications are recommended and are available on our southpawsexpress.org website, or via contacting Lucy at maramuser@gmail.com. Her adoption fee is $450.
