Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Are you looking for a new best friend? Murphy is looking for his new 24/7 companion, and he's interviewing applicants now! Murphy is an adorable 10 year old, 4.5 pound, Maltese male. He may only have 3 legs, but he gets around great and doesn't seem to notice that he's missing a limb at all! Murphy is an older gentleman, and he is mostly deaf, but he can still see quite well. Murphy was found wandering all alone in rural Alabama, and he was matted and very thin. Friends of Rescue sent him straight to a vet, and we found out that his poor little mouth was in severe pain due to infected and loose teeth. After he saw the dentist, he started feeling so much better! He is down to only 6 teeth, so he can only eat wet food, but he is now happily eating and steadily gaining weight.
Murphy needs an adopter who can provide constant companionship. He is housebroken, but he needs help getting up and down any big steps in a house. (He would love a patio style home where steps aren't a concern.) Murphy's favorite past-time is to lounge on the couch on pillows or fluffy blankets, especially if you'll lay with him and watch TV! He also demands to sleep in the bed with his person at night; he only weighs 4 lbs - you don't even notice he's there! Murphy loves to go for car rides, and he is happy to be carried around in a purse/bag. He just wants to be with you ALL of the time. We want to find an adopter who needs a constant companion and can be home with him most of the time. He would be a great best friend for an elderly person who has a fenced back yard. Because Murphy is deaf, he's prone to wandering off and not knowing if his owner is calling his name, so a fenced backyard is necessary if he is to be let off leash. He's great with other dogs and doesn't even seem to notice cats. Murphy is fostered in Huntsville, AL, and he is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He's ready to go spend his golden years with his new best friend. If you're that person, please feel out the application so we can make a love connection!
