Meet Miss Demi. She is a 1 year young Chihuahua/Miniature Shorthaired Dachshund/Pekingese/Pomeranian mix whose interests include cuddling, walking and romping. She loves having toys to play with, so her new home will need to provide her with her own toys, bones, playtime, and some training to keep her mind and body healthy. This sweet girl is house trained, is somewhat leashed trained, has basic commands down, she gets along well with people she knows. She likes to sleep with her human or near them.
She has a low prey drive and is curious about cats but not enough to say hi to them. Demi likes to cuddle with you or lay down with you, wherever you may be or whatever you may be doing. She is a sweet dog even if she seems shy at first. Miss Demi will need more positive experience to help her over her fears from her previous abuse.
Due to this she will need a family who knows how to build trust with an abused dog. Willing to give her the time she needs to develop trust. She will trust again; it takes time and patience. She loves to cuddle with me in bed as long as she feels safe and I am at her level.
Demi will be happiest when she can be a part of her person's daily activities. Her family will need to be sure that Demi feels like she is part of a close knit group. She is spayed, micro chipped, vaccinated, licensed and a complete health workup. Miss Demi is still growing her fur on her body from the neglect she was rescued from. Some fur may never grow back due to hair follicle damage. We have found lamb, duck and salmon works well for her or many of the limited ingredient foods. She will go home with her new family with all her medical records and DNA test results.
