My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hubert, how could we best describe him without getting carried away? He truly is a gem!
* gentle, easy going, well mannered
* submissive with people and dogs alike
* housebroken and crate trained
* mellow love bug with a sunshine like smile
He is perfect. Now we just need to find him the perfect family.

Hubert is a white Pit Bull Terrier, possibly a mix. He weighs 65 pounds, was born around 11/27/2012 and is now 4 years old.

He was a long time resident of the Corridor of Cruelty. He was hanging around at a business and the owners somewhat claimed him but let him roam the streets and didn’t really take care of him. One day Hubert had a hurt leg and we took him to a clinic to get it checked out. After he was returned, the business owner did not want him to be around anymore. We noticed Hubert being withdrawn and just so sad looking. He typically would greet us with the cutest tail-wag dance and give kisses whenever we would stop by to check on him.

We don’t know what had happened to Hubert but we know that he is the sweetest ‘little’ guy and deserves a chance to be loved by his very own family. So we scooped him right up off the streets and brought him to our facility. Initially, Hubert was very shy and not quite sure how to feel about his new living situation. Then he got lucky and landed himself a spot at a amazing foster home. He immediately perked up again and adjusted quickly to being an inside dog.

Here is what his foster mom had to say about him:
'Hubert is all smiles all the time. It’s impossible not to look at his goofy grin, pink nose and freckles and not instantly feel happier. So if you are looking for an easy-going hippo, I mean dog, Hubert is your guy. He always wants to be in the room with humans (especially when they are in the kitchen, as you can tell by looking at his not-so-svelte waistline) but he is happy just to keep his human company.

He doesn’t need tons of attention, doesn’t bark, quiet all night, doesn’t chew on stuff, is house trained – he is the consummate gentleman. You’d never guess this guy spent his entire life on the streets. He seems to remember and is always so grateful for the attention and love he receives. He is generous with bestowing puppy kisses and especially loves head rubs and cuddle time.

Hubert also loves going for walks. He is working on leaning out with lot’s of exercise and a healthy (dog food only) diet. He is not the dog for someone that wants to go on 15 mile runs every day. Hubert enjoys slow strolls instead.

He is comfortable with dogs of all sizes and lets even the little ones boss him around. He is relaxed, puts up with hyper and bossy dogs and doesn’t have any need to be in charge. He is also a super fast learner and will be easy to train. Hubert is guaranteed to bring smiles and lots of love to the lucky family that adopts him.'
