Tom Selleck's Story...
Hi guys! How you doin’? My name is Tom Selleck and I am a big, handsome goofball! I’m only 1 year old and I weigh about 55 pounds. I am like an oversized puppy. I LOVE to play! Throw a tennis ball and watch how quickly I can fetch it. I also LOVE treats – I stuck my whole head in Auntie Kelly’s bag of biscuits when she wasn’t looking. When I’m done playing, I’m your perfect snuggle buddy – I’ll wiggle right up to you for some love. I got to go a real professional groomer the other day. I got a big bath and I was so well-behaved, I even gave the nice groomer lady kisses while she scrubbed me clean. My humans haven't seen me much with other dogs or cats just yet, but they said that they can temperament test me if you have other furry friends in your home. Let me be your #1 guy! Apply today! Adoption fee: $75. Adopt a pair: $115. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 60 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip.

Apply online: www.pawsforliferescue.org. Complete this form and a volunteer will contact you to answer questions and to schedule a meet-n-greet.

Adoption and Foster Care Application

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tom Selleck, a Troy American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in Troy, or seeking a American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with American Staffordshire Terrier/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
