My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

June is a darling little girl that is finally being given a chance to be loved and to be part of a family. It is obvious that she has never had that in her life and she is really soaking it all up and thriving in her foster home. She is a gentle and tolerant dog who would do well in just about any situation. She would be great with children of all ages and would enjoy another gentle dog in the home to play with. June is approximately 5 – 6 years old and currently weighs approximately 23 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

June is very social and friendly with everyone. She wags her tail like crazy to anyone that gives her the least amount of attention. She has a great demeanor and loves to watch the kids play in the school yard. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and would make a great family pet. She likes to play and wrestle with our small dog and would be fine with other dogs in the home.

June is just waiting for her forever family. I don’t think she has ever had a home life before. Everything appears to be so new to her. Right now we are working on hugs and cuddles. She is unsure when you hug her but she likes it and will cozy her face right in, but her body stays stiff. She is still a little unsure and learning to trust. She will make a great companion to a family that is patient and consistent.

She is undernourished but is now eating well and we don’t expect it will take her long to get to a healthy weight. She was in heat when she first came into our care but will be spayed shortly and prior to going to her new home. All of her vaccinations, etc. have been brought up to date and overall she appears to be healthy. She currently weighs approximately 23 lbs. We would classify her energy level as moderate. She loves her time outside but she also loves to cuddle up with you and loves naps. Her favourite things are to sit in the window and watch the world go by, spending time in the garden playing and she loves having her ears scratched.

We don’t believe that anyone spent time with June teaching her anything but she has shown herself to be a smart girl and is picking up on things quickly. She will need someone that is willing to continue working on basic obedience and training with her in a positive. patient and consistent way. Her one real fault is her “shoe fettish” so you have to make sure you don’t leave your shoes around where she can get them. We are working on teaching her to leave them alone. Other than that, she is pretty good when left alone in the home. You just have to make sure you don’t leave any food where she can get it, etc. She is a Beagle and will need a securely fenced yard to play in and should not be left off leash in an open area. We have taken her out in the car and she loved it, sitting in the window seat and watching the world go by.

une is a very gentle, loving little dog. She is on the shy side but is very tolerant and would make a wonderful companion for children. We can see her being a little child’s best friend. She would also do well with older adults who want a lower energy dog. She would actually be perfect for anyone who is willing and wanting to spend time with her and just love her. We would love to see her in a home where people are there more often than not just because she deserves it. Even having other dogs in the home to keep her company while you are away would be good for her and also to help teach her how to play with toys, etc. She is just a very sweet little dog that deserves a family that will love her and who will continue to work on her training and make her a valuable member of the family.
