TAKING APPLICATIONS
Due to the high level of interest
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application at the shelter and stay for a short interview. Unfortunately, you will not be able to take me home today. We are looking forward to working with you.
Please be advised we only adopt to AZ residents. We make a commitment to all of our animals. So while we appreciate your interest, we ask that you be a local resident to adopt. We do not always know the full background of each animal and sometimes personalities are not fully shown until a few days in the home. If for whatever reason you cannot keep the animal, we appreciate the animal being returned to our facility. It is costly and time consuming to return an animal from out of state. Please check your local animal shelter to find a forever friend near your area.
Where I came from…
I was brought to Sun Valley Animal Shelter when my owner could no longer care for me. The people here at the shelter have taken the time to get to know me to help me find the best forever home.
A little bit about me…
I am a very sweet girl who enjoys affection & will seek it out from you. I have a very happy disposition & am always in the mood to explore things around me.
I am a vocal girl & will talk to you. It is very common for me to talk back to you when you say my name or direct attention at me. I have a unique sounding meow. Because I have long hair, brushing me often will be required to keep my coat smooth, shiny, & mat-free.
I absolutely LOVE cats condos & will explore them. Being up on the higher tiers is where I like to be so that I can survey the land around me.
I love to play fetch. I love to play with the laser pointer. & I have an obsession with the clear plastic straps on the inside of your shirts.
My ideal home would include…
Someone who is comfortable with having a kitty that will be underfoot sometimes. I love to be where you are & will slink around your legs to get your attention.
Someone who is okay with having a somewhat vocal cat. I will often speak to you to let you know I am around, & I will also talk back to you if you have a conversation with me.
Someone who understands that I enjoy being able to climb all over things & will accommodate that. Having high cat condos & high shelves & areas for me to climb up to will keep me happy.
Someone who is willing to play with me daily to keep me exercised & occupied. I will play fetch with you once I am comfortable, & I love to play with the laser pointer.
Someone who will keep me brushed & mat free a few times a week. My long luxurious coat will require basic maintenance.

About Sun Valley Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Sun Valley Animal Shelter, Inc., is an Arizona nonprofit corporation with 501(c)3 status which operates a No-Kill shelter in Glendale, Arizona, generally serving the western portion of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The organization was founded in 1991 by a group of Sun City area residents as a foster-based program to provide adoption opportunities for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats. The current facility was built in 1995 and can house 100+ dogs and 100+ cats. The organization receives no government funding and is supported by income from our thrift store profits, adoption fees, membership dues, donations and bequests. We recently received a grant to assist in the construction of a new medical/surgical center at the facility.

The animals taken into our care are housed in a clean, secure environment and are spayed/neutered, microchipped, given all necessary shots and a physical exam. Dedicated volunteers are invaluable in assisting with the daily care and nurturing of our dogs and cats prior to finding a loving home. We are proud to note that in the last several years we have increased adoptions from approximately 300 animals per year to over 1000 animals per year.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Sun Valley Animal Shelter is located at 7150 N. 110th Avenue in the City of Glendale, AZ 85307. Our business hours are Tuesdays thru Sundays from 11:00am till 4:00pm. We do participate in a local Petsmart on the weekends for our dogs to be viewed. We also participate in various events throughout the Greater Phoenix area that those who allow dogs to be shown we bring for viewing. If not, we are always available at an event to showcase those adoptable pets that are available.

Our Adoption Process...

We do have adoption fees that are reflective to our adoptable cats and dogs. They will slightly vary depending on the cat or dog. However most of the adoptable pets have the same adoptable fee. We ask that any prospective adopter to come to our location and complete an adoption application. This will be reviewed by a qualified adoption counselor who will sit and visit to interview the adopter on what they are looking for to place the adoptable pet in a forever home. Once approved for adoption, there is paperwork to complete and the adoptable cat or dog will be able to go home that day
