My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BARTOLO is a 4-year-old neutered male black lab. Bartolo weighs 100 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

DESCRIPTION Bartolo is a great dog he has a wonderful temperament and has become the Mr. Congeniality of the kennel. So far, he has not met man nor beast that he hasn't greeted with a happily wagging tail and a smile on his face! Bartolo is quite friendly, very sociable, and eager to please. He is playful and surprisingly athletic for his size, likes to retrieve and his favorite is a ball that squawks when it rolls. Bartelo loves to go for walks and for rides in the car, and is certain that he would like to learn to drive so that he can get out and about even more! He would like a home with a family that has a yard and can give him the exercise and care he needs. Good with other dogs lived with two at shelters fosters and has been out with other Lab Rescue pups at the kennel with no problems. Knows sit, come and down. Pulls some on lead, good with an Easy Walk Harness. Reported as house and crate trained. From Shelter Manager It is my pleasure to introduce you to Bartolo This amazing beautiful neutered 2 year old male Lab weighing 100 pounds came to us at the beginning of Feb. Poor fella was abandoned on the road with a red collar but no one ever came for him. Sweet man has been in foster care for his chronic skin issue which is now much improved! He is now back at the center but he still needs on going skin care Great dog and lived with other dogs in foster and is awesome.

NOTE: Hypothyroidism is easily controlled with relatively low cost medicine. It is a clinical condition resulting from a lowered production and release of T4 and T3 hormones by the thyroid gland. The treatment is medication is replacement of deficient hormones which are given in synthetic form, with the dosage adjusted occasionally based on your dog's individual physical condition and progress. Most clinical symptoms will resolve after a few months with routine blood tests.

Adopters must meet these requirements:
Setting: Rural, Suburban
Dwelling: Single Family Home
Fencing: Needs fence either physical or underground.

Bartelo is from a rural area and has not been exposed to traffic, noise, or groups of people. If dogs are overwhelmed by their environment, they can exhibit behaviors like excessive barking. To avoid this, for now we are limiting placement to stand alone single family homes in a suburban neighborhood or rural area. As we learn more from the dog's time spent in foster, we will evaluate if placement can be expanded to include a more urban environment and send out an update.

This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP.
